The family business that founded this cement factory in 1914 had long been active in the lime trade. Because business was going exceptionally well, they sought a way to expand their operations. The family operated the factory until the late 1960s, after which—perhaps due to a lack of inheritance—it was sold in 1970 to a larger player in the market, a subsidiary of the Thyssen Group.
The company was sold several more times and merged with other cement and lime factories, until it finally bought by the current owner in 2005. Because the facilities were already seriously outdated by then, operations at this factory were shut down in 2007 and transferred to a new factory a short distance away. Today, this site is only partly used to store stock.
