Two old military aircraft and several wrecked cars, mainly Volkswagen vans, surrounded by heathland form the backdrop to this somewhat macabre spot. It looks like a scene ripped from a Francis Ford Coppola film. Fortunately, there's no sign of Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore and no smell of napalm... Nevertheless, a visit is not without risks. The abandoned vehicles are located on an active military site and are still regularly used for target practice. The surrounding heathland is therefore littered with empty mortar shells. The walk here across the open terrain, actively patrolled by military police, is a bit like walking through a war zone... Walking in Iraq.
