At the end of the 19th century, education in this village was limited to the municipal boys' school. Around the turn of the century, the then-clergy decided there was a need for education for girls. To organize this, the monastic community 'Daughters of Wisdom, Montfort Sisters' from the Netherlands were commissioned to establish a small convent on land made available by the municipality. Local farmers brought the materials by horse and cart, and around 1908 the sisters' school was a reality. The school had a nursery department for boys and girls and a primary school for girls up to 14 years old.

Successive educational reforms led to the merger of the two schools in the late 1970s. The old convent building became vacant. Today, there are concrete plans to build a completely new school on the site. The old convent building will be restored and integrated into the new school complex, primarily providing space for the administration, and management.
