I visited this abandoned mining company several times before, focusing each time on a different part of the enormous industrial site. On previous occasions I visited the winding building 'Mine des Grimpeurs' and later the adjacent coal washing facility 'Lavage de Charbon'.
This time the focus was on two smaller buildings, one of which we couldn't find a way in. This one, however, a small machinery building turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous piece of industrial heritage. Inside we came across the machinery that hoisted the elevators out of the mine shaft. The building is less frequently visited by urban explorers and, despite its years of vacancy, has remained remarkably intact, subject only to natural decay.
The eye-catcher in the building is the gigantic pulleys, driven by several turbines, which suggest the impressive forces generated here to lift the heavily loaded elevators from the mine shaft to the top.
