This Austrian company produces non-replaceable refractory materials for all industrial firing and melting processes. The company's headquarters were located in Vienna. The firm employed 7,900 people worldwide at approximately 30 production sites and more than 70 sales locations. However, we visited this German branch, where primarily magnesia carbon bricks for the steel industry were produced. Due to the crisis in the European steel industry, the German site was closed in 2013. 122 employees lost their jobs. Demolition work is currently in full swing there.
The factory is quite extensive and spans several production halls. Usually, you only see the hall with the "robots" at this location. Since it was our only location that day, we took ample time to explore the other buildings as well. We found some beautiful and photo-worthy corners in those other buildings too.
