The history of this place has been intertwined with monastic life from the very beginning, so much so that a reference is incorporated into the hamlet's name. This history dates back to the year 670, when a hermitess founded the first monastery here.
Although little can be determined about it, this wing of the former psychiatric hospital, later a nursing home, is obviously of much later date. Judging by the architectural style, the mid-1970s is a safe bet. The building has been disused for some time, and the former patients have moved to a newer, more modern complex nearby. The building consists mostly of empty rooms, but here and there, interesting elements can still be found, not least of which is a small laboratory.
