Little information can be found about this parish church. The church was designed by architect Hermann Wielers. The foundation stone was laid in 1901 and the church was consecrated in 1904. During the Second World War, it sustained significant damage and extensive restoration work was necessary. This was carried out under the auspices of architect Günter Settnik. It is unclear when the church fell into disuse. At some point, restoration work was started, but it is clear that this work has stalled for quite some time.
Fortunately, I was able to visit this church just in time. Shortly after my visit, I saw photos appear showing the entire church being defaced by idiots with spray cans. A terrible shame... Naturally, the vandalism did not go without consequences. The underground passage providing access to the church was immediately sealed off.
