The chateau was built around 1830. A fortified stronghold previously stood on this site. That stronghold was demolished, but the moats were initially preserved. Later, the moats were also filled in to make way for gardens.
The chateau, built in neoclassical style with numerous references to Italian architecture, has an H-shaped floor plan: a central section with a connecting transverse wing on either side. Its remarkable interior reflects the transition from the neoclassical spirit to eclecticism under the July Monarchy.
Several rooms were furnished with Parisian furniture and curtains from 1830. These complement a faux wood and faux marble decor, and painted ceilings of the Pompeian or antique type. The walls are covered with wallpaper from the House of Dufour. The entire complex was protected as a heritage site in 2000.
