Despite decades of vacancy, this beautiful chateau, surrounded by parkland and forest, is in surprisingly good condition. It appears renovation work was once underway, but it has been halted for some time. The chateau shows virtually no signs of destruction or vandalism, but it has been naturally affected by the ravages of time.
Information about the building is extremely scarce. The chateau was built at the end of the 18th century by a French man of letters, co-founder of a literary academy in a nearby town. He corresponded with Voltaire, among others. His manuscripts and correspondence have unfortunately been lost.
