Little can be traced regarding the early history of this villa. A typical Art Deco villa in the chic suburbs of a major city. But what took place behind the curtains of this villa is far less typical. The property made the news when a fire broke out. Not so remarkable in itself, were it not that the fire originated in the clandestine cannabis plantation in the attic. Exactly what you would expect in such a chic suburb... 'Chateau des Plantes' is, therefore, a somewhat sarcastic reference to horticultural activities taking place on the property.
Among novice urbexers, the name 'Chateau Pink' also circulates, likely because of the one pink room, and even 'Chateau Pink Panther', which makes absolutely no sense anymore.
The fire and the firefighting caused significant damage to the building, yet many details remained beautifully preserved... Scaffolding surrounding the villa suggested at one point that the renovation had started, but the work seems to have already been halted...
